BARACK OUR WORLD!
I must admit when they showed Jesse Jackson crying, I actually choked up. We have come a very long way in just his life time. I know that two - three years from now he'll have probably done things that even his supporters don't like. But, for today, the future seems a little bit more hopeful. |

I'm truly in mourning. All I can think about are the millions of innocent children who might be murdered because we will now have a president who believes
that murdering children (politically correct term is abortion) is fine. I'm not sure there are enough millstones for our country.

We've had a Republican president for 8 years, and abortion is still legal. Prior to Clinton, we had Republicans in control for 12 years, and abortion was
still legal. Abortion is nothing more than a red herron that Republicans throw out there to distract people from other - dare I say it - more important issues.
They couldn't possibly care less about it.
And I'm absolutely joyous for the children who have been born who will have access to better health care and education, whose parents might enjoy a better living so they can provide a better life for those children - and GASP even be able to be at home and spend time with those children instead of working 2 or 3 jobs to simply survive. I'm not saying you're one of these people LL, but it never ceases to amaze me how many people get all charged up over abortion, but don't seem to give a rip what happens to the child once it's out of the womb.

More important issues... how truly sad...
And I wasn't trying to start an argument. I just wanted to let others know that not everyone is jumping up and down with glee.

In 1985 my mother was pregnant. We did not have health insurance. Short story long, my little brother died as a result of my mother's lack of competant
pre-natal care.
In 1994 my son (then age 4) had pneumonia. The hospital refused to admit him because we did not have insurance. Today I work in a shelter where 80% of our residents work at least full time - most of them have more than one job. But, they're still living in a shelter because the cost of housing compared to what they make is too high. Everyday I see women who with children who can't hold a job because they can't afford $100+ a week for childcare for unpotty trained children. There are much more important issues. Like I said: It never ceases to amaze me how anti-abortionists don't seem to care what happens to the child once it's out of the womb. |

As I stated:
And I wasn't trying to start an argument. I just wanted to let others know that not everyone is jumping up and down with glee. "Like I said: It never ceases to amaze me how anti-abortionists don't seem to care what happens to the child once it's out of the womb." If you know of any personally, please, please, let me know how I can contact him/her. EVERY CHILD IS IMPORTANT! And I honestly don't personally know one anti-abortionist who doesn't think ALL HUMAN LIFE IS PRECIOUS. As Dr. Suess stated in Horton Hears a Who "a person's a person - no matter how small."

Well, I believe it is morally wrong. But, lots of things I believe are morally wrong are legal. I'm more of Clinton's philosophy of "safe, legal,
and rare." But, it won't be rare until we address the issues such as access to health care, living wages, and affordable childcare.

Well I celebrated, and I'm hopeful for the United States which is more than I can say I was over the past year. Nuff said out of this keyboard.

In my house we knew that one of us would be let down and one would be happy since hubby and I voted for different presidents (as is usually the case). I still
love my Republican hubby:)

Saundra: All that I could say....and I said it out loud....was DAMN.
As for abortion.....the democratic party doesn't take great pride and joy in performing abortions. However, without the legalization of abortion we would see a resurgence of dumpster babies and home made clothes rack abortions. Who are the people affected by this? Our mothers....our sisters....our children....our neighbors. Want to know what happens after someone has an abortion is a dirty environment without medical attention? They develop sepsis and they die. So now - we have lost not one life....but 2. More often than not...the person seeking an abortion is scared with nowhere to turn. More often that we would like to think about....that person is a child themselves. This procedure is available and regulated by our government to protect our people. Our republican candidates this year were in support of abortion if the mothers life was in danger. Nobody likes to think about it....but it is a fact of life. |

Not to mention that abortion laws only affect working class women. Women with some means will just do what they did pre-Roe V Wade - go some place it's
legal.

As for murdered children, I'm glad the "War President" is finally leaving the White House and I hope Obama will end the Iraq war soon to make
sure we aren't killing people in other countries for no good reason. I've never understood how so many "pro-life" people support war. An
unborn fetus is valuable but a child bombed in another country doesn't matter? Life is life.
