Queen,
I can't believe that you're going and I'm not! I'm just not well enough yet to travel. DO look for Mort and Jane Castle and tell them you're a friend of mine. They are two of the most wonderful people on earth. I'll write to you privately to give you more info, like who you should meet, what is worth attending, and most importantly, don't tire yourself out during the day...the parties are where everything happens! Have a wonderful time! |

Well, here I am, in my hotel room.
I'm a little confused. I have a program grid that doesn't list most of the stuff in the program book. It looks like everything starts at about 5 pm, although I did miss a talk by Edo van Belkom because I had to have a nap after my 3 hours of sleep before a 6 a.m. flight. Anyway, soon as I get my bearings, I will look for the Castles, David. *Disclaimer: Not responsible for lost, stolen, or eaten body parts*

All in all, it's been a bit disappointing. Very few people are here. I was talking to Linda Ross-Mansfield yesterday and Mort Castle cancelled a while back
so I missed him, unfortunately. Apparently, there are quite a few detours due to the flooding in Manitoba and North Dakota, making it difficult for the drivers
to come. And, apparently, there is still fear of travel because of the flu. The few who are here, though, are having a good time.
I just had an unexpected visitor so I am missing a talk by Conrad Williams on the British horror scene. Yesterday I did attend an amusing reading by F. Paul Wilson and then spent a few minutes explaining Canadian coins to him. Afterwards I just hung around the registration area talking to Linda and a couple of the other ladies. We discussed Octo-Mom, the Scary Flu-thing, and that eternal favourite, the weather. The Gross-out Contest was last night so that was fun. Tommy Castillo got First Place. Afterwards we watched a few short horror films whose writers were there to answer questions. Once I'd had my fill of short films I went to a bar to check out some local bands so I didn't get back to the hotel until 2 p.m.. After having the taxi driver hit on me, that is. I've spent the better part of today wandering around the city, particularly The Forks. This happens when you read the schedule wrong and miss out on the panel discussions. I am looking forward to the films. They're supposed to be showing a Lovecraft film so I have to find out when that is. I met some Canadian film makers tonight. A bunch of us went to dinner but the table filled up so we sat apart. *Disclaimer: Not responsible for lost, stolen, or eaten body parts*
