I really liked Let the Right One In - I read it immediately after seeing the film, that's how highly I thought of the film.
But I popped in here to post as I broke my own rules, particularly as my favourite bookshop had double loyalty points this fortnight: The Story of O, Part 2 - Pauline Reage (this is a present but I thought I'd read it first and so far I think it's pretty dire.) The Girl Who Played With Fire - Stieg Larsson BFI Modern Classics book about the making of Bladerunner |

Wow, really? To be honest, it's only available in the larger format paperback here at the moment, but has been so for a few months. (I justified buying it
now by getting double loyalty points - and that I really wanted to read it.
Tonight I bought a copy of Ian Rankin's Beggar's Banquet, a collection of short stories including some featuring Inspector Rebus. Double points again. |

Sat., hubby & I went to with B&N since we had a coupon. I got NoOne You Know by Michelle Redmond. He got A Time To Kill by John Grisham As much as he
likes to read Grisham's books, I was surprised that he had not read this one. This is its 20th year and his first published book.

Another present, this time a book on Titanic. And as a bonus, I used a book voucher I received under my favourite bookshop's loyalty/rewards program.

Golophin you won't be disappointed with The Girl who played with Fire - it's even better than the first book of the trilogy by Stig Larrson. I was just
a little disappointed with the third book which I belive has not yet come out in English.
At the moment I am reading Der Zauberberg by Thomas Mann (The Magic Mountain). ![]()

Thanks Tabbynera, that's good to know about book 2. I've got in the queue and am really looking forward to it. Book 3 is going to be released here
soon, too.
My recent purchases were Ian Rankin's book about Inspector Rebus's Scotland. Couldn't help myself after my recent immersion in Rebus's world. I also bought Phil Rickman's To Dream of the Dead, as it's finally out in a small, affordable (justifiable) paperback. |

I special ordered it so I don't have it yet. The Maze of the Enchanter. It's volume 4 of the Collected Fantasies of Clark Ashton Smith, put out by
Nightshade Books.

Oink Oink Oink, a new book by local novelist Eric Dando whose writing I love. He's not prolific though - this is his second novel and the first one was
published more than ten years ago.

The Girl Who Played With Fire by Stieg Larsson. Is that glamour puss on the cover supposed to be Lisbeth Salander??

Oh dear. Probably. You must have a different cover to us. This is ours:
This one's definitely meant to be her - dragon tattoo'n'all. |

Thanks! I think I like the picture on yours more, but prefer the text/font on ours. I haven't read it yet so I'm not sure what the blonde hair's
meant to mean... Must read, must read!
My most recent purchase was James Lee Burke's Swan Peak, the most recent in his Robicheaux series. |
