Anyone on Goodreads? |
Lead | |
|
I just started using Goodreads online to track books I'm reading, and it's very cool. You can use it through Facebook as well. Sadly I only have 2
friends on there. Anyone want to be my Goodreads friend? Of course I'm spending all day trying to remember every book I've ever read so I can put it on
there...haha! I'm also wasting a lot of time on the trivia quiz.

Lisa, is it like Bookshelf? I did join as a free member (someday I'll shell out the $25 but not now) and got a few books in. I'll check it out. (By the
way, I have no friends on Bookshelf, so don't feel too bad!)

Yes, I am on Goodreads. Joined there in summer 2007. I was always racking my brains trying to remember the books that I've read. Even today, I'll
notice a book that someone's read & I'll remember that I'd read that too. I'm also on several groups that they have. I don't surf the
groups as much as I used too. One of the groups that I like is The Next Best Book Club!! I was reading the same authors and was in a rut. I've gotten some
great books from that group.

sublimosa -- I don't know what Bookshelf is, but it's probably similar. Goodreads is free, though, so there's that! cutielady -- I'm going to
check out that group -- I think one of my friends belongs to it. And yeah, I know I'll never remember all the books I've ever read, but it's cool
to keep thinking of them gradually and add them. I'm having fun with it. Eventually I'll write a few reviews; I haven't done that yet.

I'm on Bookshelf (via Facebook) but don't go there often as I don't like the recent changes and it's very resource heavy for my poor little pc
of little brain and my s l o w net connection. So, I checked and Goodreads is similar although there were a few things that will take me a while to work out -
including the Facebook thing, I didn't even spot that while I was there.
Anyway, I've signed up for Goodreads just now and even though I've not hide time to really get into it, it's considerably faster as a site than Bookshelf. Lisa, when I've got a little more familiar with how it all works I'll let you know so we can hook up if you like. I'll join you in adding every book I've ever read, too, I reckon. |

Took me a while but I found Goodreads on Facebook and discovered that someone in my friends list (who's also on Yuku) is already there. Kewl.
Then, I saw some book recommendations against another friend's name so I've dropped him a note to ask him if he's still there. He's on Yuku and Facebook. |

Hi there. A student of mine invited me to Goodreads, and I've been there for a while - mostly to keep track of the books I've read and am reading. So,
this student (actually, she's a former student; she graduated from college a year and a half ago) is my "friend' on Goodreads. As well as Stacy
Barton, author. Heh - She basically joined and friended anyone was listed as having read her book of short stories, "Surviving Nashville."' But
that's cool; I gave her book five stars, and am now talking with her about the book via Gooodreads.
I have refrained from listing all the erotica books I've read - due to my former student being my friend. Hehe. I have, however, listed the trashy romance novels. Anyway - I'll be your friend there, what the heck. How can I contact you to ask about friending? Same goes for you, AirPrang. If you want to. Just PM me, thanks.

Carla, do you prefer GoodReads over LibraryThing? Since I'm a member of the latter, I've never even looked at the former.

Don't know what I'm currently reading... between books for a minute. |

On LibraryThing I only work with the books that I personally own.... plus I am in the Early reader program so I get free books and sometimes even like them.
The groups are nice and the people are fun.
On Goodreads I not only work with the books that I own, but those that I have read but don't own. That's why my library there is slightly larger and is no where near being completed, plus there is the trivia which can be addicting. I like the LibraryThing search functions better. I like both of them but for different reasons and I plan to keep both of them. LT for books I own and GR for all books that I have ever read including those in my personal library. |

I catalog everything I read -- not just what I own -- at LT and use the collections feature to separate those I've borrowed or gotten rid of.

Well, dang. Looks like you need to know someone's e-mail address to Friend someone at GoodReads.
Oh, well. |

I have been found by one of our fellow members on here, and I am pretty sure that none of you has my email addy. I think that if you use their username then
you can find them that way too.

I haven't figured out that function yet, apparently.

Go to your first page and there should be a small box that has your picture... next to it it lists how many books you have and your friends total. Next to that
it says find friends, click that and it brings you to another page. The second option on that page will allow you to search for people by email or by name.
I hope this helps a little bit |
