Last night I had a particularly hard day at work which was exacerbated by a couple of stressful situations in my personal life. Toward the end of my shift I was very down and was seriously entertaining the thought of quitting. I had just punched out, grabbed my coat, and was talking to a co-worker about some things he needed to know about when I hear this female voice over by the front counter say "Do you know you are loved?" I look over and this woman is staring at me. I tried to shrug it off by saying "Ut oh, what did I do?". She then says "When we moved up here from California you were so nice to us. My sister always talks about the nice lady that works up the street. My mom came down from Vancouver and you were so nice to her.. she still talks about you".
In that three minute exchange my attitude completely changed and I felt so much better and a lot less defeated when I came home last night. You never know when complimenting someone will completely make their day. I challenge everyone to hand out a random compliment to someone today.
