Flu shot |

I got the first flu shot today that I have ever gotten in my adult life. Maybe it will keep me healthy this winter. Anyone else getting one?

I am thinking about it. It will be my first, too, if I get it. Have a physical scheduled next week and will discuss with my doctor. I never used to worry about
stuff like that before, but I haven't been in a regular work environment for years and of course as I said, everything is tactile these days.
I don't like the idea of unnecessary medicine. I'm sitting here right now knowing I should take something for allergies (my ear is blocked up) but just not wanting to. Sigh. Here I go. |

In the line of business I was in before retirement I've always taken everything the health dept offered from flu to hep series. After retirement I
didn't think I needed them - after the first couple of bouts of flu - I'm back to prevention - I'll have a shot next week.

I have my quarterly check-up tomorrow, and will request my shot then. I've taken those shots for years, and they seem to have worked for me, so I'll contunue. |

When I taught at the Nursery school I was sick with colds and flues from September to May. I just figured it was a way to boost my antibodies. But lately I
have been a bit more protective of my health. As many of you know I take classes at the University..and as I sat there today listening to all the young people
sneezing and coughing..I grabbed my husband after his class and said..we gotta stop at Walgreens Drug Store today..they are giving flu shots for 25 bucks. He
agreed..alot of sneezing in his class too.

he takes classes too. He just retired In Feb. He is a Civil Engineer and it is fun to run into him at school. But I am still adjusting to having another person
with me 24/7

Nope. Used to get them, but have decided not to do it anymore. Don't like to take anything I don't have to. And since I don't trust them not to
give the swine flu vaccine instead of a regular one, I'm not being anyone's guinea pig.

No. I try other things to try to keep myself healthy. Things like Netipots and lots of Vitamin C in liquid form.

As soon as class is over I get out my hand sanitizer and try to get rid of the germs before I accidentally touch my eyes or mouth

I've never gotten a flu shot before but I am gonna get mine tomorrow. Target is giving their employees them for FREE. I wasn't gonna get one (again)but
the school kids are getting the flu like crazy. Worse than last year. The swine flu shot isn't here yet either. The mist is but that's only for people
under the age of 49.

Yeah, I got one for the sesonal flu. I teach at a University, and with all those goldarned college kids running around sick, I figure I should do it every
year. Plus, now I'm "over 50" which is considered a higher risk group (rolls eyes). The University was giving them for FREE! Woohoo. I wonder if
they'll do the same with H1N1? I hope so; we've had *several* cases at the University.

We have had several cases of swine flu at the University where I take classes. No deaths that I know of. But there is so much regular flu going around too..and
it seems to be coming earlier this year.

The seasonal flu came out the day after the kids went back to school. Not good. Well, I got my flu shot yesterday. If I do happen to get the flu, I'm gonna
be sooo mad. I've heard of people getting sick after having the flu shot.

I had a slight flu like feeling the next night when I was tired and ready for bed. But it did not last.

I don't get them. I've gotten the flu exactly once in the past 25 years, so I don't think the risks are high for me and I'd rather leave the
vaccines (seems like they are always having shortages, at least around here) for people who really need it.
On the other hand, I will be getting my teenage daughter a flu vaccine for the first time this year, as she had flu TWICE lasts winter (two different strains) and I don't want her to have to miss so much school again. |

Well, I don't think I need one now. I've had the flu for the past two days.
I did go out last night and really suffered for it.

I awoke with a moderate fever this morning. It broke around 10:30 or so. Then I got sick in other ways. Now, I'm just exhausted.
I did manage to work in 2 hours' worth of school though.

I am sorry to hear this and hope you will be feeling better soon. Is this a respiratory or stomach flu?
